Products

Apex Greenhouses is a bespoke commercial and industrial project builder, working with you to determine your needs in specific climates and conditions. We design and fabricate your greenhouse to your specifications, with an extensive range of products available.

Commercial Glasshouses

Our large-scale commercial glasshouses are based on the highly-successful “venlo” glasshouse design, ranging in size from 1,000sqm to 20ha and beyond.

Our glasshouses are constructed using a hot-dip galvanised steel structure with an optional white powder coat, generally spanning widths of 8.0m, 9.6m or 12.0m.

A variety of glass options exist, along with different ventilation types, including standard, continuous vents or Cabrio style. We can also provide options for insect netting.

Packing Sheds

An adjacent services or packing area is a great addition to any commercial greenhouse project. Packing sheds can also be built as a stand-alone, complementary building, featuring clear span widths from 8m up to 24m (multiple spans are typical) and sandwich panel thicknesses from 40mm-100mm. Adjacent areas are generally used to house irrigation and boiler technical areas, lunchrooms and toilets for staff as well as packing areas, keeping operational and administration space separate to growing areas.

Botanic Gardens

We love the challenge that a botanic gardens project can bring. Often prioritising form and aesthetics while not overlooking function, these facilities can require out-of-the-box thinking to comply with public access requirements, ensuring they’re not only accessible, but places of beauty – and often serenity – the public will want to visit time and time again.

Solar Structures

The solar structure sector is constantly growing and evolving. By integrating frameless solar panels into our proven venlo greenhouse structures, large scale areas can easily be converted into energy-generating facilities without compromising on the usable space below. These create a low-cost BIPV solution, while reducing energy spending, reducing emissions and ticking green credentials.

Medicinal Facilities

Pharmaceutical-grade facilities require a high level of finish to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and security regulations. Apex Greenhouses often works with very strict tolerances for changes to the surrounding climate, meaning we ensure temperatures are controlled at all times within our greenhouses. This can be critical for growing specific products for the pharmaceutical industry.

Roll-Air Open Roof

Greenhouses with a Roll-Air Open Roof are ideal for any business which requires full ventilation for the plants within and/or hardening off of plants before they are delivered to customers. A Roll-Air Open Roof can be particularly beneficial for retail garden centres. Some retail operators have reported up to a 20 per cent increase in retail sales due to improved plant quality and a more pleasant environment for customers to shop.  A Roll-Air Open Roof provides customers with the ability to open their greenhouse completely to outside conditions or to protect it from the elements – and all within one minute.

Polycarbonate Systems

Polycarbonate provides a point of difference to glass structures with some interesting characteristics. A style of cladding favoured by research industries, polycarbonate is not subject to spontaneous breakage in the same manner as glass, meaning that research activities will be protected from unexpected exposure to the elements. Polycarbonate systems are available in several differing configurations – with some giving increased resistance to hail damage and other elements. Polycarbonate can also provide excellent insulation properties as compared to glass with twin wall, and up to five-wall configurations.

In today’s environment of high energy prices, polycarbonate can also be used on side and gable walls to reduce heat losses through these areas.

ETFE Systems

ETFE is a highly-unique material. As an alternative to traditional plastic greenhouses, ETFE is flame-retardant, has a very low friction coefficient (requires minimal cleaning) and a high-impact resistance. ETFE can be offered in clear and diffused versions, and additionally with UV-open and UV-closed configurations (UV open allows UV through to the crop and can provide benefits which traditional plastic and glass do not offer). ETFE, unlike traditional plastic, does not suffer from light transmission losses over time. ETFE is also a high light-transmitting material with more than 90 per cent VLT (visible light transmission). ETFE also offers a service life of more than 30 years.
